- Getting around the area is simple, with four- and six-lane streets developed ahead of the growth curve. Major freeways ensure commuters quick access to all parts of the Valley of the Sun.
- Chandler has miles of bike lanes, with many more on the way. The City of Chandler is also developing a linear trail system that will be open to hikers, bikers and equestrian riders.
- Some of the best elementary schools in the country are in Chandler. Chandler High has an 80-year track record as one of the top academic schools in Arizona; Hamilton High, built in 1998, is one of the most technologically advanced high schools in the country; Basha High is one of the district’s newest high schools.
- Chandler-Gilbert Community College is one of the most rapidly expanding facilities in the Maricopa Community College System. In downtown Chandler, the Western International University Campus offers training and advanced degrees in a number of areas. The largest privately-owned university, University of Phoenix, also has a Chandler campus. Arizona State University is located just 15 miles north of Chandler; and the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University are within two-hour driving distances.
- Chandler’s parks and recreation system has received numerous awards for its programs, facilities, and philosophy of the importance of offering a wide variety of amenities to the community. The latest award, the Arizona Parks and Recreation Outstanding Facility Award, was received for the Hamilton Aquatic Center. Chandler’s planning includes developing one neighborhood park in each square mile of the city.
- A passion for the performing arts is reflected in the 1,600-seat Chandler Center for the Arts which features performances by leading artists in ballet, opera, Broadway, comedy, dance and more.
Retail is booming in Chandler. Chandler Fashion Center has over 180 shops and restaurants, and the adjacent retail developments of Chandler Festival, Chandler Gateway, and The Boulevard Shops offer premier shopping in the Southeast Valley. Another development, Casa Paloma, features high-end shops and restaurants in a unique open-air mall setting. A downtown redevelopment plan includes a pedestrian-oriented area with restaurants and entertainment centers.
- Chandler is home to Intel and Orbital, both with two major campus facilities in the community. Intel has announced plans to open another plant that will employ up to 3,000 people. Further energizing the community’s economy are Avnet, Toyota Financial Services, and Microchip.
- There are more than 20 hotels with over 2,000 rooms, and construction plans are underway for more hotels to accommodate guests.
- Chandler is a very safe community and was named the safest city in the state and the 74th-safest city in the country by a national research firm. Chandler is the first city in the world to boast accredited police, communications and fire departments.
